Wedding DJ, AV, print and stage production

You can book a DJ from one company, sound and lighting from another, a stage from a third and your signage from a printer who has never seen the room. Plenty of weddings run that way and most of them are fine. What you are buying when you split it up is a set of gaps, and the gaps all appear on the day, usually between four and six in the afternoon when four vans want the same loading bay.

The practical version: the person who builds the stage knows where the lighting needs to hang because he is in the same workshop as the person hanging it. The printed floor arrives cut to the dancefloor that was measured, not to a drawing. The DJ booth is the right height for the DJ who is actually playing. None of that is clever. It is just harder to get wrong when it is one team and one schedule.

Take one department or all four. Most couples start with the DJ and add the rest once they have seen the room, which is the sensible order.
