An old-world wedding in Portugal

Yezmina and Elton spread their wedding across old-world Portugal, and across several days. It opened with an intimate welcome dinner at Penha Longa, candles and orange blooms and a live band, before the celebrations moved to the majestic Palácio do Correio-Mor, an imposing Baroque-era residence on the outskirts of Lisbon. The groom arrived by vintage car, the bride entered on the arms of her brothers, and a poolside lunch gave way to the phera ceremony amid minimal, elegant decor. The sangeet lit up the palace courtyard with green foliage, white blooms and candlelight, with singer Jeffrey Iqbal carrying the evening. A church ceremony at Belém followed, guests waving ribbons as the newlyweds departed, and the reception at Penha Longa closed the day in dark red blooms, antique chandeliers and a towering seven-layer cake. Kudos ran the floor throughout, with DJ Arvee, DJ H and DJ Itch trading the booth from the sangeet through to the small hours. Three DJs across one wedding sounds like overkill until you count the events. We book it that way on purpose: nobody should be playing their fourth set of the weekend at 1am, and it shows when they are.
