Kudos pays respect to the legendary Kuldeep Manak, an influence, inspiration and teacher to so many in the Bhangra industry.

Kuldeep Manak was the adopted name of Latif Mohammed, a born Muslim, the Punjabi singer who was renown for his traditional style of Bhangra. The Punjabi icon converted to Sikhism later in his life, respected by his family who keep a copy of the Guru Granth Sahib saroop in their home.

Manak released his first album in 1976 which features classics such as ‘Tere Tiley Ton’ and ‘Cheti Karh Sarwan Bachcha’. Manak had fans worldwide and also maintained the greatest respect amongst prominent figures within the Bhangra scene. Jazzy B, self proclaimed Crown Prince of Bhangra referred to Manak as his Ustad or Guru. Living legend Gurdas Mann was also one of Manaks admirers, paying tribute to him in one of his more popular hits. Manaks music is still influential in much of what is played in the Bhangra industry to date, with songs such as GT Road and Sahiba Da Khat and Yaarian Da Truck remain in any DJs must play music selection.

Kudos would like to pay its deepest respect and condolences to friends of family of Ustad Kuldeep Manak.
